Leah Jamieson is also Purdue’s Ransburg Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and holds
a courtesy appointment in the university’s department of engineering education. She served as IEEE’s 2007 president
and CEO and is a director and executive committee member. Ms. Jamieson is co-founder and past director of the
Engineering Projects in Community Service, an engineering design program that operates in a service-learning
context. She was awarded the U.S. National Academy of Engineering’s 2005 Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Innovation
in Engineering and Technology and the Anita Borg Institute’s 2007 Women of Vision award for social impact. She
recently gave the keynote address at the Anita Borg Institute’s 2008 conference for senior tech leaders. Among many
honors, she was one of the first seven recipients of the NSF director’s award for distinguished teaching scholars in
2001. Ms. Jamieson is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering’s Committee on Engineering Education
and a fellow of the IEEE.

Steve Johnson, before founding ChoiceStream, was vice president of America Online’s Software and Technology
Development Division. While at AOL, Mr. Johnson led the development of AOL 4.0 and You’ve Got Pictures™, as
well as telephony and broadcast products. At AOL, Mr. Johnson was also responsible for media technology research,
development, and acquisition. In this role, he served as principal technology negotiator in AOL’s 1998 acquisition of
Netscape. Mr. Johnson co-founded Johnson-Grace Co., an entity specializing in image, sound, and video compression
technology, in 1991; that company was purchased by America Online in 1996. He holds a U.S. patent, issued in 1999,
for the image compression technology still used today by AOL.
L. Bruce Jones

L. Bruce Jones is CEO and co-founder of U.S. Submarines and also president and founder of Poseidon Undersea
Resorts LLC and related companies. U.S. Submarines has been active in the design, engineering, and construction of
civil submarines and submersibles for 15 years and Mr. Jones has 20 years of experience in the civil submarine field
including the development of the world’s first luxury submarine designs. He is considered a leading authority on
nonmilitary submarines and has led U.S. Submarines to a position of prominence as the most successful and unique
civil submarine company in the world today. In 2001 Mr. Jones formed Poseidon Undersea Resorts, a company that
will build and operate the world’s first sea floor resorts.

Paul Jones is the creator and director of ibiblio.org, home to one of the largest “collections of collections” on the
Internet, a conservancy of freely available information, including software, music, literature, art, history, science,
politics, and cultural studies. Mr. Jones is a faculty member of the School of Information and Library Science and the
School of Journalism and Mass Communication at UNC Chapel Hill. For more than 15 years, he and ibiblio.org have
been active participants in the global growth of free and open source software. Mr. Jones is a trustee of Chapel Hill
Public Library and the academic board of the UNC Libraries, and a director of the Linux documentation project. He
is a member of the Louis Round Wilson Knowledge Trust. Mr. Jones has published poetry in Poetry, Ohio Review,
Georgia Review, and Southern Poetry Review.
