Rio Caraeff is president and CEO of VEVO, the web’s No. 1 premium music video and entertainment service,
with more than 1. 1 billion worldwide streams and some 60 million unique visitors in the U.S. and Canada
each month. Before joining VEVO in 2009, Mr. Caraeff was executive vice president of Universal Music Group’s
eLabs and, before that, was general manager of Universal Music Mobile. His 15-plus years in entertainment
technology have included senior positions at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Fabric (a media and telecom
consultancy he co-founded), Sony 550 Digital Media Ventures, Sony Music Entertainment, Capitol Records
Group, and Propaganda Films. Mr. Caraeff was featured in the Hollywood Reporter’s “Next Generation” as one
of the top 35 executives under 35 and in Fortune magazine’s 40 under 40. He was also named a top digital
executive to watch by the LA Times and Digital Media Wire.
KAREN CATOR
Director, Office of Educational Technology, U.S. Department of Education
Karen Cator is the director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. She has
devoted her career to creating the best possible learning environments for this generation of students. Before
joining the department, Ms. Cator directed Apple’s leadership and advocacy efforts in education. In this role,
she focused on the intersection of education policy and research, emerging technologies, and the reality faced
by teachers, students, and administrators. Ms. Cator joined Apple in 1997 from the public education sector,
most recently leading technology planning and implementation in Juneau, Alaska. She also served as special
assistant for telecommunications for the lieutenant governor of Alaska. Ms. Cator holds a master’s degree in
school administration from the University of Oregon and bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from
Springfield College. She is the past chair of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills and has served on the several
boards, including the Software & Information Industry Association—Education.
NAVIN CHADDHA
Managing Director, Mayfield Fund
Navin Chaddha, a proven serial entrepreneur and venture investor, was named a Young Global Leader by the
World Economic Forum in 2009. He invests in the enterprise, energy tech, Internet, and telecom sectors in the
U.S., and is the founder of Mayfield’s dedicated India Fund, which he oversees. Mr. Chaddha has made more
than 30 investments in companies, of which ten have had IPOs and another nine have been acquired. Before
joining Mayfield, Mr. Chaddha was a partner at Gabriel Venture Partners and entrepreneur in residence at
Mobius Venture Capital. As an entrepreneur, he was founder and CTO of VXtreme, a streaming media software
company that was acquired by Microsoft and became Windows Media. Mr. Chaddha was also the co-founder of
iBeam Broadcasting and CEO and founder of Rivio. He earned degrees from Stanford University and IIT Delhi,
and was honored with the IIT Distinguished Alumni award in 2006. Mr. Chaddha holds more than 35 patents.
RORY CHANNER
Managing Director, Marketing, Corporate Executive Board (CEB)
Rory Channer has served as CEB’s managing director of marketing since the beginning of this year. Before
assuming this role, he served as the regional practice lead in the Sales, Marketing, and Communications
Practice. He was also franchise leader of sales, and senior director of marketing services. Before joining
CEB, Mr. Channer held multiple senior sales positions, including the East Coast regional sales director for
BusinessGenetics, based in New York City, where he oversaw the opening of new regional offices and
business development. He also served as senior vice president of business development and sales of Portrait
Software, an international CRM software company that specializes in solutions for the financial services
sector. Mr. Channer holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Hull. He has post-
graduate qualifications in industrial psychology, psychometric testing, and leadership coaching from George
Washington University and Regents College in London.
