Jessi Hempel joined Fortune as a writer in 2007. She was previously with Business Week and most recently
served as their innovation department editor, where she worked on cover stories and special reports. Before
this position, she was a staff editor, covering philanthropy, technology, and youth. Before joining Business Week,
Ms. Hempel worked for TIME Asia and various nonprofit organizations. She has appeared on an array of radio
and television programs, including CNBC’s Wakeup Call and Fox’s Good Day New York. She has also been a
regular guest on ABC’s World News This Morning. Ms. Hempel is a graduate of Brown University and received a
master’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley.
JASON HIRSCHHORN
Media Entrepreneur
Jason Hirschhorn is a highly regarded media executive. His unique approach emphasizes innovation, rejects
the notion of the media company as tastemaker, and lets the audience guide the direction of product and
content offerings. Widely reputed as an industry-disruptor and creative visionary, Mr. Hirschhorn is equally
comfortable in both entrepreneurial and traditional media company settings, and possesses a unique
combination of startup credibility and substantial product, brand, and technology expertise. He most recently
served as co-president of MySpace. During his tenure as president of Sling Media’s Entertainment Group, he
pioneered the “video anywhere” concept. Before Sling, Mr. Hirschhorn was chief digital officer at MTV Networks.
As the youngest senior executive in the company’s history, he led the single-platform cable network into the
multiplatform digital age. Earlier he founded Mischief New Media while still a student. Among many honors, he
was named to Crain’s New York Business’ 40 Under 40 list.
COURTNEY HOLT
President, MySpace Music
Courtney Holt serves as president of MySpace Music, a global music platform for artists to stay connected with
fans and for fans to discover, listen to, and share music experiences. In this role, Mr. Holt oversees the growth
and development of the MySpace Music business. He brings extensive music industry depth and relationships
to the company, as well as experience and focus on product, promotion, and marketing that will serve to
solidify the company’s position as a global leader in the digital music space as well as the platform of choice for
artists at every level. Before joining MySpace Music, Mr. Holt was executive vice president of digital music for
MTV Networks’ Music and Logo Group, where he oversaw all digital initiatives for the company’s MTV, VH1, and
CMT music brands, as well as for Logo. Before joining MTV Networks in 2006, he was senior vice president of
new media, creative, and strategic marketing at Interscope Geffen A&M.
JEN-HSUN HUANG
Co-founder, President, and CEO, NVIDIA
Jen-Hsun Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993 and has served since as president, CEO, and a board member.
NVIDIA, based in Santa Clara, Calif., is the world leader in visual computing technologies and the inventor of the
GPU. Under his leadership, NVIDIA pioneered its use in devices as varied as smartphones, tablets, PCs, cars, and
supercomputers. Mr. Huang has received the Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership award from the Fabless
Semiconductor Association, recognizing exceptional contributions to driving the industry’s development,
innovation, growth, and long-term opportunities. He has also received the Daniel J. Epstein Engineering
Management award from the University of Southern California, and an honorary doctorate from Oregon State
University. Before founding NVIDIA, Mr. Huang held various positions at LSI Logic and at AMD. He holds a BSEE
degree from Oregon State University and an MSEE degree from Stanford University.
