Roy Singham, as founder and chairman of Thought Works, is recognized globally as a software development
innovator. Throughout his 20-year career, Mr. Singham has inspired the industry as an influential supporter of
emerging technologies, open source programming languages, and agile methods of software development.
He is regularly featured as a keynote speaker and panel presenter to global conferences and organizations,
including the Fortune Brainstorm TECH conferences, the Council on Foreign Relations, India’s National
Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), and Agile China. Recently, Mr. Singham gave
the opening addresses to the Latin American conference on agile methodologies in Florianopolis, Brazil, and
the first Ruby Conference in Bangalore, India. A global citizen, he travels internationally more than 250 days
a year to some 60 countries, not only in western nations and Silicon Valley, but also in the emerging markets
and technology hot spots of Asia and Latin America. Mr. Singham is a graduate of Howard University in
Washington, D.C.
BRAD SLINGERLEND
Assistant Portfolio Manager, Janus Capital Group Inc.
Brad Slingerlend is the assistant portfolio manager of the Janus Twenty Fund and an equity research analyst,
primarily focusing on the media and communications sectors. Mr. Slingerlend started at Janus as an intern
during the summer of 1998 and covered primarily the technology, retail, and entertainment industries.
He served as the head of the technology research analyst team from 2003 to 2006, and co-managed both
the technology research analyst team and the Janus Global Technology portfolios from 2006 to 2007. Mr.
Slingerlend received his BA degrees in economics and astrophysics from Williams College.
QUINCY SMITH
Co-founder and Partner, CODE Advisors
Quincy Smith co-founded CODE Advisors, a next-generation investment bank for the new media and
technology economy, earlier this year and serves as a partner. Previously Mr. Smith was CEO of CBS Interactive,
a business unit within CBS Corp. that houses and operates all CBS Interactive online and mobile properties,
a Top 10 network of sites based on worldwide monthly visitors offering premium content across the News,
Sports, and Entertainment divisions. Mr. Smith led the division as its president from 2006 to 2008. Before
joining CBS in 2006, Mr. Smith was at Allen & Co., where he was involved in multiple transactions for Google,
Advertising.com’s sale to AOL, the del.icio.us sale to Yahoo, Neopets’ sale to Viacom, Loudeye’s sale to Nokia,
and CNET’s acquisition of Webshots. He also worked with Comcast, the Weinstein Co., and CBS, as well as the
firm’s investments in Ning and SlingMedia. Mr. Smith was a founding partner of the Barksdale Group, a venture
capital firm, and, still earlier, was with Netscape for five years.
