Lisa Sugar’s insatiable appetite for celebrities and the world of entertainment led her to create PopSugar as a
hobby in 2005. After explosive growth, Lisa and her husband, Brian, created Sugar Inc. and began expanding
PopSugar’s unique, friendly tone to sites focused on fashion, shopping, technology, baby, home, and similar
subjects. The wife and mother of two now spends her days overseeing a staff of 60 editors who write for the 18
lifestyle and entertainment sites that make up the PopSugar Network. As editor in chief, Ms. Sugar continues to
define the voice and brand of the Sugar properties. Before founding PopSugar, Ms. Sugar was a media planner
at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and Young & Rubicam, and was also with Showtime Networks and Fox.
JULIE SUPAN
Principal, Supan Consulting
Julie Supan is a marketing consultant with 15 years of experience creating brands, positioning and
differentiating early-stage companies, building market positions, developing public relations and social
marketing campaigns, and advising executive management. Clients include Gowalla, Ning, Redpoint Ventures,
Scribd, and several early mobile Internet companies. Before founding her firm, she was senior director of
marketing at You Tube, where she helped build the brand from its inception. She led all branding, grassroots
marketing, and public and entertainment relations while also serving as the company’s primary spokesperson.
In 2006, Ms. Supan was named Entertainment Marketer of the Year by Advertising Age and Marketer of the Year
by Brandweek. While working for Google, she helped create successful programs, including the CNN-You Tube
Debates, the Oprah Winfrey “You Tube” Show, and the People magazine Red Carpet Reporter Campaign. Before
joining You Tube, Ms. Supan handled communications for Best Buy and Inktomi. Earlier, she was with Fleishman-Hillard and Burson-Marsteller.

communications and advertising strategy for several U.S. Congressional campaigns and served as the top
communications strategist to former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich. Earlier he served as an Associated Press
staff writer and editor of a daily newspaper in Texas.

Anne Sweeney is co-chair, Disney Media Networks, and president, Disney/ABC Television Group, which includes
The Walt Disney Company’s global entertainment and news television properties, owned television stations
group, as well as radio and publishing businesses. Ms. Sweeney joined the company in 1996 as president,
Disney Channel, and executive vice president, Disney/ABC Cable Networks. She was promoted to president,
Disney Channels Worldwide and ABC Cable Networks Group, in 2000 before assuming her current role in 2004.
Ms. Sweeney previously served as chairman and CEO of FX Networks, Inc., from 1993 to 1996. She also served
12 years at Nickelodeon in various executive positions. A director of A&E Television Networks, the Paley Center
for Media, the American Film Institute, and the Special Olympics, Ms. Sweeney holds a BA degree from the
College of New Rochelle and an Ed. M. degree from Harvard University.
