Bryan Roberts, PhD, joined Venrock as a Kauffman fellow in 1997. Based in Palo Alto, he invests broadly across
the healthcare industry. Dr. Roberts is currently chairman of Castlight Health, Ironwood Pharmaceuticals,
Achaogen, and Kyruus. He also serves on the board of 10X Genomics, Doctor on Demand, Grand Rounds,
Intarcia, Stride Health, and Zeltiq, and is a board observer at CloudFlare. Past investments include Ariosa
Diagnostics (acquired by Roche), athenahealth, CodeRyte (acquired by 3M), Ikaria (acquired by Mallinkrodt),
Illumina, and Sirna Therapeutics (acquired by Merck). Dr. Roberts was named a Henry Crown fellow by the Aspen
Institute in 2006. Immediately prior to joining Venrock, he received his PhD in chemistry and chemical biology from
Harvard University. He previously held positions in corporate finance at Kidder, Peabody & Co. and received his
BA degree from Dartmouth College.

Sean Ryan is vice president of platform partnerships at Facebook, where he leads a global team focused on
expanding and managing Facebook’s developer ecosystem across the gaming, payments, and platform groups,
including FB@Work. Before joining Facebook, Mr. Ryan was executive vice president and general manager of
games at News Corporation. He has also served as a consultant in digital goods and social media monetization,
including as global CEO of Live Journal, a top Russian social platform. He was previously the CEO of leading
music service Rhapsody, and started his tech career at SegaSoft Networks. Mr. Ryan holds an MBA from UCLA’s
Anderson Graduate School of Management and a BA degree from Columbia University. He is a board member of
GreatSchools.org, a leading education nonprofit entity.

Kathy Savitt is responsible for Yahoo’s worldwide marketing and editorial teams. Before joining Yahoo, she was
CEO of Lockerz, a company she founded in 2009 with the mission of revolutionizing the way Generation Z (born
between 1992 and 2010) discovers and consumes content and products. Before founding Lockerz, Ms. Savitt
was executive vice president and CMO at American Eagle Outfitters, Inc., where she led the global marketing
efforts of the company’s portfolio of brands and the digital and e-commerce channels. She was also vice
president of strategic communications, content, and entertainment initiatives for Amazon.com. Ms. Savitt founded
her first company, an integrated marketing communications firm called MWW/Savitt, before she turned 30. During
her ten years at MWW/Savitt, she represented some of the world’s most influential Fortune 500 brands and
helped launch more than 100 startups. She currently is a director of Alaska Air Group and Vitamin Shoppe, Inc.
She graduated from Cornell University with a BA degree in history and government.

Michael Schrage holds research appointments at MIT Sloan School’s Initiative on the Digital Economy and
Imperial College’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group in London. His research, writing, and advisory
work focuses on the behavioral economics of models, prototypes, and experiments as collaborative media for
innovation and risk management. His current work emphasizes the design of two-sided markets to facilitate
network effects. His 2012 Harvard Business Review Press e-book, Who Do You Want Your Customers to
Become?, was an Amazon Kindle business bestseller. His book on lightweight, high-impact 5X5 business
experimentation, The Innovator’s Hypothesis, was published last fall by the MIT Press.
